Dwarf Iris is a highly rare, non-wetland species of sandy areas. It is expected to be found in the Coastal Plain of Maryland.
Description
Inland Dwarf Iris can be distinguished from Sandhill Dwarf Iris (Iris verna var. verna) by its wider rhizomes (2.5-8 mm in diameter vs. 1-2.5 mm). It also has wider leaves (5-13 mm vs. 3-8 mm) with more veins (15-29 vs 9-19), among other differences.
