Description

Colonus puerperus males look superficially the same as the males of this species but can be separated in the field by the type of white patch in the middle of the carapace. The white patch on Colonus sylvanus is circular or squared. In contrast, C. puerperus has a longitudinal white stripe that reaches almost to the posterior edge of the carapace. (BugGuide)
