Great News! Turkey Point has re-opened to the public!

Turkey Point Bird Count (2025)

Please welcome Nolan Walker, our lead counter for the 2025 season! We're excited to return to Turkey Point for our fifth season collecting valuable data about fall migration. Turkey Point is the southernmost point of the Elk Neck Peninsula in Cecil County, Maryland, and a natural gathering point for southbound migrating birds. The Turkey Point Bird Count will document fall bird migration here from August 1st through November 30th.

If you would like to support this effort, please donate via the link above. You can monitor updates via Trektellen and eBird as well as via the MBP special projects blog and on social media (MBP on Facebook and Instagram).

◆ Nolan Walker

Nolan is a birder who currently resides in the biologically diverse region of Southeast Arizona. At age 9, he started birding in his native state of Tennessee. In 2021, Nolan became a full time guide for Arizona Birding Guides. In the time since, he's spent several months guiding in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. He was the lead hawkwatcher for Hitchcock Nature Center in Iowa in fall of 2024. Additionally, he is a member of the Arizona Bird Records Committee, and he serves a regional reviewer for Graham County on eBird. His birding passion is fueled by migration, listing, learning, and seeing new places that the world has to offer. He's looking forward to leading the morning flight count at Turkey Point this fall, and he can't wait to see what cool birds he can count!
