Found in scattered groups on ground in coniferous or mixed forests.

Description

Cap: White (pinkish-buff in age), smooth, dry or sticky, sometimes with water spots or pitted; convex, may develop low umbo in age; margin inrolled, often lobed or wavy; flesh whitish or pinkish, thick. Gills: Whitish becoming pale pinkish-buff in age; can be separated from flesh; crowded. Stalk: White, pale tan, stains brown; dry, smooth or scurfy (may be longitudinally grooved in age); cylindrical, tapers upward; base may be bulbous or club-shaped (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
