Status

One of our tree bat species. It summers in the northern U.S. and Canada and is primarily a migrant in Maryland. Its winter range includes the southern U.S. and Mexico, but some may linger late into the season or overwinter in Maryland, entering torpor during cold weather. According to Maryland DNR, overwintering Silver-haired Bats may spend the winter "under loose bark, in rock crevices, in clumps of leaves, in woodpecker holes, in bird nests, sometimes open sheds, garages or outbuildings."

Description
