Maryland has one accepted record of American Flamingo (#2011-088), documented at various locations on Assateague Island between about 6/28 and 9/3/1972. Color slides permitted ID to species, but are not yet available for use here. A record from 9/30/2023 in St. Mary's Co. was part of a well-documented and unprecedented movement of the species and is sure to be accepted (eBird report). The MD/DCRC tracks another ten flamingo reports that are unreviewable or not yet reviewed.
